Abstract
Gadag schist belt consists of more than 2000 m thick pile of sediments, least metamorphosed, and with abundant well preserved sedimentary sturctures, The principal types of structures are discussed and an attempt has been made to interpret the environment of deposition. Sedimentary structures and the lithotectonic sedimentary assemblage broadly indicate an unstable environment of deposition under geosynclinal conditon.
